International Business Internship

Job Description

Position Specification:

 Work with the JOE consortium on cross-functional New Business and Event Development teams. Interface with Marketing, Web Design, local Merchant Partners, International Partners and Non-Profit Partners to develop, understand and communicate the Event and Fundraising Development Plans and ensure engagement of all related partners in JOE programs. Manage the procurement of International Partners during the development phase and work with non profit and community partners to ensure a smooth transition of information to the tactical and creative team members enabling high quality production and community participation in the effort of fundraising. Support the Creative and Business Development Managers in areas of analysis, research, presentation development, website design and function, attend receptions and meetings with partners, assist creatively to develop ideas which gain community interest, function as a host, coordinator or team lead and information resource at events, communicate and coordinate International partners and resources. 

Role & Responsibility:

The internship experience offers a variety of hands-on-training and exposure to the many different aspects of Event Production and Development and Non Profit Fundraising such as:

  • Market analysis and research during the development phase.
  • Create Presentation Materials using Prezi, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and other related software
  • Sourcing and Procurement activity for International Events and Local Fundraising Gala.
  • Review, update and communicate event schedules and merchant programs with all members and partners.
  • Face to face merchant partner interaction and follow-up
  • Non-Profit partner communications and follow-up
  • Website changes and content maintenance
  • On- going communication and strategy with Web design team
  • Social Media Strategy, implementation and management

Requirements:

  • Strong background in Microsoft Windows, Windows XP and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) Prezi, Facebook and Instagram
  • Some knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Word Press, Dream Press 
  • Excellent communications skills and a high level of motivation
  • Comfortable with high degree of interaction with professional partners and community (public speaking, PR or Marketing course exposure helpful)
  • Prior international travel experience helpful
  • Interest in Event Planning, Non Profit Sustainability and or International Business required
  • Competent and Functional French Language skills (written and oral)
  • Commitment to JOE for the entire term of the internship
